Drips

I have a '67 1800, and despite the fact that I have replaced the door weatherstripping and sealed the front window, I still have water leaking into the car and dripping down off the dash. Any suggestions or solutions?

Rob - It's possible that your fresh air vents are leaking. Remove the fresh air grille (in front of the windshield) and make sure the two drain holes at either end of the intake box are clear. Check the drain tubes that run from the box down the firewall in the engine compartment to be sure they are not too flat to carry water.

Even if this drain system is working properly, water can seep past the fresh air vents and wet your ankles. I believe this could be fixed by carefully cleaning around the vent ducts and applying a good silicone sealer between the ducts and the surrounding metal. Be careful not to seal the vent covers to the ducts. (I have never actually tried this myself, because it doesn't rain enough around here to make it a priority.) -Glenn.
