Crack and Boot

By Farrokh Ollia (September, 2001)

Steering Wheel

A few years ago, I noticed two distinctive cracks in the steering wheel. Fortunately both these cracks were on the backside, which cannot be seen but certainly can be felt. To my dismay the length of these cracks kept increasing. I drilled a hole at the end of each crack. This stopped the cracks from increasing.

Gear Shift Boot

The Volvo gear shift boots had a very short life. I replaced it with a VW gear shift boot at least 15 years ago. Looks exactly like the Volvo boot and is in as good shape as the day it was purchased.
